Overview
Oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insight. This role is both strategic and hands-on — balancing daily financial oversight with forward-looking analysis to guide leadership decisions. You’ll partner closely with ownership and senior leadership, playing a critical role in shaping the companies financial health and growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close.
- Manage cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory accounting.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports for leadership.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Partner with operations and sales leaders to improve profitability and margin management.
- Provide financial insight on CAPEX, system upgrades, and AI-driven initiatives under consideration.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
- Mentor and develop accounting / finance team members (if applicable).
Qualifications
- CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting / finance experience, ideally in wholesale, distribution, or retail.
- Strong understanding of inventory-based businesses and margin management.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP / accounting systems (SAP experience an asset).
- Analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Hands-on, proactive, and adaptable in a mid-sized, entrepreneurial business environment.
