Executive Assistant
Blueberry River First Nations is seeking a dedicated, organized, and highly professional Executive Assistant to support the Council and Admin Office. Guiding Responsibilities
Strategic Planning Support
• Support the vision, mission, and goals of Blueberry River First Nations.
• Be knowledgeable about First Nations protocols, government processes, and organizational policies.
• Help ensure the Council and Admin team is prepared and supported in all strategic initiatives and meetings.
Administrative Support
• Manage the Council’s calendar, meetings, and travel arrangements.
• Handle incoming correspondence, emails, phone calls, and documentation with professionalism.
• Reconcile expenses, draft reports, and coordinate administrative processes.
• Attend meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
Community and Partnership Engagement
• Liaise with internal departments and external partners to ensure effective communication and relationship management.
• Represent the Council and Admin’s Office with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
• Assist in handling community inquiries, especially on politically sensitive or controversial issues.
• Promote and maintain positive relationships with government bodies, industry, and community members.
Confidentiality and Security
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive matters.
• Safeguard all records, communications, and official documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality on all the matters relating to the affairs of the Blueberry River First Nations.
• Maintain a working knowledge and adherence of BRFN Administration and Human Resources Policy.
Lived & Learned Experience
· Cultural Awareness:
Deep understanding of First Nations culture, values, and traditions, including awareness of the systemic issues Indigenous peoples face and how these impact governance and administration.
· Education:
Completion of post-secondary education in Business Administration, Office Management, Indigenous Governance, Public Administration, or a closely related field is required.
· Experience:
o Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a senior administrative or Executive Assistant role.
o Proven experience supporting senior leadership or executive teams.
o Prior experience working with a First Nation government, Indigenous organization, or community is highly preferred.
o Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
· Skills and Competencies:
o Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams or Zoom.
o Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
o Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
o Able to build effective working relationships with leadership, colleagues, public agencies, and community members.
o High attention to detail, integrity, and a professional demeanor at all times.
o Ability to work independently while being collaborative and responsive to direction.
o Flexible and adaptable in dynamic and often sensitive environments.
· Other Requirements:
o Commitment to advancing Truth and Reconciliation and supporting Indigenous self-determination.
o Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
o Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including a vulnerable sector check if required.

Salary: $24.54 to $29.45 per hour
