The Benefits Analyst will provide group benefits consulting support including design and financial management for existing Enterprise and large clients and prospects. The Benefits Analyst will work closely with internal consulting teams, interface with vendors, support client deliverables and ensure quality standards are met. This position is well suited to someone with an Actuarial background.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability and special risk benefits for clients.
- Lead annual renewal analysis and negotiations with carriers; prepare client reports and presentations.
- Conduct experience reporting, budget projections and review plan financial performance.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and adherence to underwriting agreements.
- Conduct marketings by preparing and submitting specifications, analysis, cost comparisons, recommendations, and preparing reports.
- Gather data and determine cost impact for plan design changes.
- Monitor carrier / provider services standards.
- Support the consulting team in preparing documents for client presentations and meetings.
- Participate in industry conferences and seminars to keep abreast of industry trends and activities.
- Build relationships with clients, carriers and internal cross-functional teams.
- Other responsibilities may also include as needed: conduct plan design benchmarking studies.
- Review all benefits documentation (contracts, booklets, collective agreements, amendments) for accuracy.
- Prepare / review master application and all other documentation for new sales submissions.
- Monitor implementation process to ensure deadlines are met, questions answered, and all forms completed to meet effective date.
- Prepare detailed plan design documents using Excel templates and update when required.
- Investigate and assist with resolving ad hoc claims and coverage issues for clients.
What you will need
- Minimum 2 years experience in group benefits
- Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for types of benefits plans.
- Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel; proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Drive to manage and prioritize competing demands in order to meet client and company needs.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Sensitivity to confidential information.
- LLQP, CEBS or willingness to obtain.
