The Assistant Fitness Manager (AFM) reports to the General Manager and Fitness Manager, overseeing all fitness and personal training products and services at a Fitness World location. The AFM is responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing fitness team of Personal Trainers and ensuring an exceptional fitness experience for members. Key responsibilities include achieving financial results, member retention and satisfaction, executing company policies and procedures, and embodying the company's culture and values.
Responsibilities: People Management
- Ensure staff adhere to all company policies, procedures, and programs, including health and safety, member management, HR, and payroll.
- Provide leadership through coaching, feedback, goal setting, and performance management to support employees' career and personal growth.
- Conduct regular check-ins, development sessions, and training with team members.
Fitness Management
- Achieve personal training and supplement sales goals by motivating and leading Personal Trainers.
- Implement training programs and promotions in collaboration with the General Manager to meet department goals and increase member engagement.
- Ensure Personal Trainers develop engaging, goal-oriented training programs for clients.
- Administer personal training products and services accurately, including tracking, dotFIT usage, and session redemption.
- Address cleanliness, health, safety concerns, and incidents promptly, reporting as required.
- Foster strong relationships with other departments such as Accounting, HR, IT, Marketing, and Maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Active Personal Trainer Certification and First Aid Certification are required.
- Leadership or management experience in sales, retail, or hospitality is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
- Strong work ethic, motivation, punctuality, and organization.
- Self-starter and team player.
