Platform Science is seeking a Lead/Senior Software Engineer to join our Video team. In this high-impact role, you will take technical ownership of our existing video product, a critical component of our platform. You will not just maintain and enhance this product; you will architect its evolution, driving the technical roadmap to ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of a core offering.

Your work will directly impact road safety for our customers, making a difference in their daily operations. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to lead by example, mentor other engineers, and drive innovation to increase operational efficiency.

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our complex, large-scale Video solutions, setting the technical standards for customer experience and reliability.
• Architect and implement robust, scalable new features and services to evolve our Video offering, aligning technical strategy with global market expectations.
• Champion and enforce software engineering best practices across the team, driving a culture of quality, high-performance code, and CI/CD.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical oversight, constructive code reviews, and support for their career growth.
• Own the operational health of the video platform, including monitoring, incident response, and driving continuous improvements in performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering leads to define the technical roadmap, break down complex initiatives, and ensure successful delivery.

• 5-8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of leading the design and delivery of complex, scalable systems.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills (verbal and written), with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and mentor team members.
• Deep, hands-on expertise in backend development (Kotlin/Java, Node.js, or similar), designing and scaling resilient APIs.
• Strong experience in modern frontend development (React, Angular, or similar).
• Proficient with relational databases and data modeling (Postgres, MySQL, etc.).
• Extensive experience building, deploying, and operating cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• A strong commitment to quality and deep experience with test automation strategies (Unit, Integration, TDD principles).
• Advanced/fluent English skills: verbal and written.

• Experience with designing and implementing Event-Driven architectures.
• Production experience with high-throughput streaming systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Expertise with non-relational databases and caching strategies (ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Redis).
• Deep knowledge of serverless computing patterns (Lambda, SQS, Step Functions).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar).
• Holistic quality assurance experience (End-to-End, Performance, etc.).
• Experience with video processing, streaming protocols (HLS, DASH), or telematics data.
