Your Mission at Yotpo

We are seeking a Tech Lead to drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and guide development within our engineering teams. In this role, you will shape the technical roadmap, contribute hands‑on to key initiatives, and mentor engineers to ensure high‑quality, scalable, and reliable software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Roadmap & Planning: Plan and align the technical roadmap of your teams, ensuring communication with product stakeholders and collaboration on roadmap creation.
  • Hands‑on Technical Contribution: Actively participate in development, including running POCs and contributing to feature development, dedicating approximately 60% of your time to hands‑on execution.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer: Lead technical forums, facilitate knowledge transfer, organize workshops, and mentor at least one engineer to foster their growth.
  • Cross R&D Initiatives & Tech Leadership Forum: Actively participate in the R&D Tech Leadership forum, driving cross R&D initiatives and decisions, dedicating approximately 20% of your time to this agenda.
  • Strategic Alignment: Advance engineering‑wide themes and agendas, ensuring the technology roadmap aligns with business objectives and product line needs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong communication with internal (product, engineering) and external stakeholders (customers, partners) to gather input and feedback, and maintain transparency in roadmap updates.
  • Cultivate Engineering Best Practices: Advocate for consistent, high‑quality engineering practices, nurture technical skills within the group, and act as a catalyst for continuous improvement in quality attributes like Cost, Scalability, Reliability, Performance, Security, and Maintainability.
  • Operational Efficiency Through Tooling, Standards, and AI: Drive improvements in engineering operational efficiency by promoting internal tooling, enforcing technical standards, and adopting AI‑driven solutions to enhance productivity, reduce toil, and improve developer experience.
  • Continuous Improvement & Growth Mindset: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, proactively identifying areas for growth, and fostering a learning environment within the team and across R&D.
What You Bring
  • 7+ years of experience as a senior engineer or technical leader in a high‑growth, data‑driven environment, preferably within SaaS or product‑led organizations.
  • Fluency across modern software stacks, with strong hands‑on experience in:
  1. Backend: Java/Kotlin, Spring, Rails, Node.js, .NET
  2. Frontend: React, TypeScript (secondary but valuable)
  3. Infrastructure: AWS, K8S, Terraform, CI/CD tooling
  4. Data: Kafka, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake
  5. AI/DevX: GitHub Copilot, LLM APIs, internal developer tooling
  • Proven ability to define and drive technical roadmaps, including requirements refinement, tech decision‑making, and architecture reviews.
  • Strong track record in operational excellence, including leading bug reduction initiatives, driving RCAs, and improving reliability and performance.
  • Passion for engineering quality and developer experience, advocating for tooling, standards, and automation that improve velocity and reduce toil.
  • Experience mentoring and growing engineers, including onboarding, pairing, and fostering ownership and technical growth.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices, including microservices, service‑oriented and event‑driven architecture, and distributed systems.
  • Effective collaborator across engineering and product stakeholders, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with experimentation frameworks, feature flagging systems (e.g. LaunchDarkly), and quality gates and static analysis platforms (e.g. SonarQube).
Technical Skills
  • Programming & Systems Design: Strong proficiency in relevant programming languages and experience in designing scalable and reliable systems.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure concepts.
  • Problem‑Solving & Optimization: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and optimize system performance.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Excellent cross‑functional teamwork, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
