Job description

Position Overview:
You will support and maximize the growth and profitability of South American labels, by leading on the effective day-to-day trading and management of positions and liabilities underpinned by local knowledge, besides prioritization of work within the South American Trading team, and mentoring and developing Traders. The role has a critical impact on company Trading results. Combining both global and local betting/football knowledge, the Senior Trader will be a point of contact for the wider business/Trading managers whilst maintaining the Football product in accordance with risk guidelines and group strategy.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with the Group Trading and Commercial team to understand and bring to life daily and long-term strategy.
  2. Delivery of product, specifically the production and trading of prices for South American events.
  3. Point of contact for the wider business when on shift, always conversing professionally in person and via email/teams.
  4. Prioritise work and areas of focus for Traders on shift.
  5. Take ownership of issues as they arise and escalate accordingly.
  6. Monitor Pre-Match & In-Play betting on key LATAM football leagues, controlling liabilities and always adhering with compliance and regulatory guidelines.
  7. Trade key events using automated odds models and manage market risk in accordance with liability management protocols and market conditions.
  8. Create specials and boosted bets (Pre and Live) in alignment with the commercial team.
  9. Supplement automation by trading manual In-Play markets on key events.
  10. Monitor local and global betting markets and customer betting activity in real time.
  11. Identify translation and content issues across the South American product.
  12. Track expected line-ups and fixture news on social media to ensure a relevant offer and generate unique markets for the South American customer base.
  13. Ensure the Football product is maintained in line with strategy.
  14. Identify betting trends supported by statistical data and pass information to Senior members of the team / management.
  15. Maintain internal relationships with Marketing, PR and the Content teams to maximize publicity opportunities and engagement with the media and social media.
  16. Monitor and identify customer behaviour annotating where appropriate and liaise with Sportsbook, profiling, responsible gambling and compliance teams in line with trading strategy.
  17. Resolve technical and operational incidents in real time and escalate where appropriate.
  18. Ensure flexibility within the role - remain adaptable to pricing, trading and market driver awareness.

Skills and Responsibilities:

  1. In-depth knowledge of South American football.
  2. 5+ years of trading experience.
  3. Ability to adapt skill set to ensure success of top line strategy.
  4. Use of algorithm-based trading applications.
  5. Demonstrate understanding of key time awareness, league code profiles, compiling, market drivers and Asian awareness.
  6. Highly numerate with a solid grasp on numbers, odds and their significance.
  7. Analytical or statistical background.
  8. Ability to overcome technological difficulties calmly whilst demonstrating a positive outcome mentality.
  9. Flexibility around working times (including unsociable hours/weekends).
  10. Strong time keeping.
  11. High attention to detail.
  12. Strong communications skills.
  13. Team player that encourages and supports all other members of the team.
  14. Critical thinker.

Qualifications:

  1. GCSE Maths at grade A or equivalent.
  2. Ensure accuracy of pricing and event management in line with group strategy.
  3. Develop and maintain key relationships with other Traders, Senior Traders, Operational managers and Heads of Trading functions.
  4. Adhere to risk management guidelines.
  5. Identify and/or report technical deficiencies to Operational Manager / Head of Football.
  6. Communicate any issues encountered in real-time to management and Trading Support.
  7. Ensure active and effective communication with internal Marketing, PR and Retail teams for maximum exposure of prices.
  8. Identify improvements to trading applications and capabilities.
  9. Implement new ideas around all product markets and technology to improve performance, profitability, competitive advantage and customer experience.
  10. Monitor down-streams ensuring optimal product presentation, escalating where required.

This position is only available for candidates who live in Brazil.
It's hybrid work for Sao Paulo residents, or fully remote for candidates located anywhere in Brazil.
