ROLE OVERVIEW

The Assistant Store Manager shares in the responsibility for the overall performance of the store and assists Store Management with generating sales potential, recruiting and developing staff, maintaining store appearance, and controlling expenses and shortages.

Must be available to work any or all three weekend shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

RESPONSIBILITIES

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Generate sales and profit, minimize losses, and ensure the store is visually distinctive and impeccably maintained.
  2. Identify and implement strategies and initiatives to achieve and exceed business goals.
  3. Oversee and maintain the customer service standards to the highest possible level.
  4. Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Represent the brand image through personal and professional appearance.
  6. Take responsibility for productivity and profitability of the store including sales growth, staffing, and inventory results.
  7. Direct all activities within the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
  8. Manage time and prioritize tasks.

OPERATIONS

  1. Understand and comply with all company policy, procedures, and operations.
  2. Maintain the highest level of security and safety awareness within the store.
  3. Recognize problems, analyze causes, generate alternatives and solutions.
  4. Manage all controllable expenses, including the allocation of payroll.
  5. Attend management meetings in the absence of the Store Manager.
  6. Follow Inventory Shrinkage Improvement Program.
  7. Sustain productivity in inventory counting and price change activities.
  8. Ensure store has all necessary tools and knowledge of how to use them adequately.
  9. Direct store openings and store closings.
  10. Take direction and complete assigned tasks and responsibilities.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Train and coach team members on effective sales techniques and product knowledge to improve their performance and support the growth of your team.
  2. Lead by example, take ownership of your development, assess your performance, and actively seek feedback, resources, and opportunities to improve and elevate your skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  3. Assist in recruiting and hiring sales associates who have strong presentation and communication skills representative of the brand image.
  4. Develop all associates to be knowledgeable in areas of product, merchandising, operations, customer service, sales, and growth within the company.
  5. Motivate and develop support staff to meet store goals and objectives.
  6. Address difficult situations while maintaining performance.
  7. Effectively supervise the sales floor to ensure customer and associate awareness at all times.
  8. Demonstrate teamwork within store and company and ensure that staff is treated professionally, respectfully, and courteously.
  9. Effectively participate and assist the Store Manager in weekly management meetings and quarterly staff meetings.
  10. Express ideas effectively and lead by example.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and meet own commitments.

MERCHANDISING & VISUAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for direct supervision of a selected department or departments and ensuring the department(s) performs to its maximum potential.
  2. Participate and oversee the execution of all merchandising directives, updates, and markdowns in a timely and effective manner.
  3. Analyze and react to the needs of the business, identify top sellers, slow sellers, and fulfillment of merchandising strategy.
  4. Maintain elevated store presentation by training and overseeing standards as defined by brand standards and company directives with an eye for detail.
  5. Have thorough knowledge of sales floor and stockroom organization and systems.
  6. Keep management informed of all merchandise and visual related issues.
  7. Maintain store organization, fixtures, hardware, and general cleanliness.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  1. A minimum of one year of experience in retail management in fashion apparel.
  2. Knowledge of retail store performance KPIs with a keen awareness of local market.
  3. Excellent computer skills, documentation, and communication.
  4. English, additional language(s) an advantage.
  5. Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business.
