Job summary
A technology solutions provider in Dubai is seeking a Fiber Optic Technician to install and configure fiber optic cables and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in terminating cables, testing signals, and providing customer support during installations. This role emphasizes technical skill and customer interaction in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in installing and terminating fiber optic cables.
- Familiarity with configuring ONT and Wi-Fi routers.
- Ability to perform light-level testing and troubleshoot signal issues.
Responsibilities
- Install and terminate fiber optic cables at customer premises.
- Configure and mount ONT and Wi-Fi routers.
- Perform light-level testing using optical power meters.
The Role
- Install and terminate fiber optic cables at customer premises (FTTH).
- Configure and mount ONT (Optical Network Terminal) and Wi-Fi routers.
- Perform light-level testing using optical power meters and troubleshoot signal issues.
- Splice fiber if required, and ensure proper cable management.
- Set up internet services with proper router settings (SSID, password, DHCP, etc.).
- Maintain detailed installation and fault-handling records.
- Provide customer education on installed services.
- Connect customers to the fiber network (drop cable routing and termination).
- Use fusion splicer to join fibers where needed.
- Install, configure, and test ONT and home router.
- Check signal strength and rectify poor connections.
- Document work done and report faults to backend/NOC.
- Maintain tools and safety during site visits.
