Maintenance Technician — Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

Position Overview

Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and maintains equipment and infrastructure in good working order to ensure optimal production conditions. Performs developed preventive/predictive maintenance tasks.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure implementation of all maintenance policies, SOPs and procedures in manufacturing activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services of equipment in production plants, utilities, air conditioning systems and FF & FA systems promptly in line with the planning communicated by the Supervisor.
  • Operate and maintain utilities such as chillers, air handling units, air compressors, etc.
  • Support personnel (operators) as needed to complete specific work; assist with machine changeovers as required.
  • Willing to be called in for repairs on all shifts.
  • Check for problems on equipment/infrastructure, organize work, diagnose problems and estimate repair time.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic assemblies in accordance with diagrams, manuals and specifications.
  • Hands-on maintenance experience with pumps, blowers, vessels, piping systems, conveyors and other mechanical equipment in the plant.
  • Hands-on experience with material handling equipment (hand pallet trucks, forklifts, stackers, drum lifters, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs and instrumentation-related work.
  • Read P&ID for process and utilities; understand equipment interlocking logic.
  • Work on electrical utilities (PCC, MCC, metering kiosk, breakers, etc.).
  • Analyze repetitive breakdowns to identify root causes and plan eliminations.
  • Coordinate with vendors to execute maintenance jobs effectively.
  • Inform maintenance supervision/manager of required spare parts; implement corrective actions for audit points as directed.
  • Support factory pest control plan and related activities.
  • Knowledge of 5S and ISO standards; maintain machinery for optimum availability, uptime, efficiency and capacity utilization.
  • Record readings for electricity, water and diesel consumption as directed; maintain shop floor discipline and optimize resources.
  • Familiar with permit-to-work and LOTOTO systems; document maintenance repairs and maintain technical records (service reports, drawings, checklists, history cards, etc.).
  • Carry out all operations in compliance with legal and company policies, including EHS and housekeeping requirements.

Minimum Requirements
  • ITI (Electrician/Mechanical) 2-year full-time course or full-time diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 5-7 years of experience in maintenance and utilities.
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work System.
  • Able to analyse and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical issues.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical circuit drawings for PCC, MCC and utilities.
  • Willingness to work on-call when required; able to work in shifts.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications (MS Office, internet).
  • Must possess skills in mechanics (AODD pumps, pumps, gearboxes, machinery repair).
  • Understanding of instrumentation and calibration procedures.

  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills; willing to improve systems and adopt new technologies.
  • Prefer candidates from the chemical industry.
  • Ability to respond to demands and make quick decisions.
  • Team-oriented; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Physical Environment
  • Handling corrosive chemicals or working with critical devices. Exposure to hazards (high temperatures, projections, chemical vapours).
  • Required to use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
