Job summary
A regional construction company seeks a Safety Officer to enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and ensure compliance with local and international regulations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, at least 5 years of experience within the construction industry, and professional certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential to ensure a safe work environment in Dubai's high-rise construction sector.

- In-depth knowledge of UAE safety laws and standards.

Education
A Safety Officer in the Dubai unlimited construction sector is primarily responsible for enforcing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and ensuring full compliance with local regulations and international standards to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Conducting Site Inspections and Risk Assessments: Perform regular, comprehensive site inspections to identify potential hazards and risks inherent in large-scale, high-rise construction, and implement preventative measures.
- Ensuring Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee all construction activities comply with Dubai Municipality (DM) regulations, UAE federal laws, and international standards such as OSHA and ISO 45001.
- Developing and Implementing Safety Programs: Create and enforce site-specific safety plans, policies, and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related engineering field is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Professional certifications are critical, with the NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), IOSH Managing Safely, CSP, or CHST being widely recognized and often required. Official certification or a permit from the Dubai Municipality/Dubai Development Authority (DDA) is a legal requirement for working on regulated projects.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer, preferably within the construction industry, with experience in high-rise or large infrastructure projects being an advantage.
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential to effectively convey safety information to a diverse, multicultural workforce.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UAE-specific safety laws, building codes, and international safety standards is mandatory.
