The individual appointed to this position will be responsible for implementing and managing Academic Legislative and Regulatory Requirements applicable to the Registrars Office at CTU Training Solutions. Policies and procedural development in line with the required National Educational ACTS and Regulations will be the responsibility of the Registrar.
Developing, implementing, and managing a Quality Management System based on National and International best practices will be another focus area. International and National Benchmarking ensure that a Student-centered strategic plan is developed for the Registrars office that is at the forefront of all the latest techniques in their operational field.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities:
- Student admissions and registrations,
- Assessment and Moderation administration,
- Graduation service,
- The annual update of the rules and regulations,
- Updating academic Prospectus; coordinating and disseminating information on courses and course guidelines.
- Acting as the custodian of all student records, developing, implementing and maintaining effective and compliant records management.
- Attending all meetings of the senate and senate committees and providing the necessary committee services.
- Providing guidance on all matters of academic governance and policy to all Faculties and other departments if required.
- Warranting of assessment and moderation reports, academic transcripts, and certificates.
- Preparation of the institutional annual report for submission to the DHET.
- Participating and serving in all initiatives as determined by the Academic Dean.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, Quality Councils, and SETA’s.
- Keeping the academic and student support policies/rules register valid and ensuring:
Policies are effectively implemented:
- Legal and regulatory compliance with policies,
- Student disciplinary matters,
- Student and parent consultation meetings.
Experience, Qualifications, and Competencies:
Qualifications:
The minimum qualification requirement is an Honours Degree in Education, specializing in Education. A master’s degree in education is a recommendation.
Experience:
Ten years of relevant experience at a tertiary institution, of which five years should have been in a senior management role. Experience working with learning management system (LMS) platforms is preferred; familiarity with LMS requirements is preferred. Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft Office 365.
- Competent in assessment, data analysis, and educational outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse members of the CTU community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external accreditors.
- Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to connect to the institutional strategy while displaying attention to detail.
- Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.
- Knowledge of National postschool education practices and trends.
- Knowledge of national, and specialized postschool accreditation standards, practices, and goals.
- Knowledge of institutional self-assessments.
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of integrated program planning, development, and administration within a higher education institution.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical leadership, supervisory skills, and the ability to motivate staff productivity and performance.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal management.
