Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

Our client is seeking to employ an experienced and trade-tested Workshop Technician to join their team based in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. The successful candidate will support workshop operations by ensuring efficient, high-quality repairs, maintenance, and customer service.

Requirements
  • Matric / NQF equivalent (essential).

  • Trade-tested Millwright with strong Electrical and Instrumentation knowledge.

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a related technical field.

  • Experience within the Food & Beverage manufacturing environment (advantageous).

  • Valid driver’s licence (recommended).

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
  1. Technical Repairs & Troubleshooting:

    • Diagnose and repair complex machinery efficiently and professionally.

    • Conduct tests, trials, and interpret results to make informed technical recommendations.

    • Perform routine maintenance on equipment both onsite and in the workshop.

  2. Installation, Commissioning & Training:

    • Carry out equipment installations, commissioning, and customer training as required.

    • Provide guidance to clients on equipment operation and maintenance.

  3. Technical Documentation:

    • Read and interpret manuals, mechanical schematics, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.

    • Compile detailed service and findings reports after each job.

  4. Customer Support:

    • Respond promptly to breakdowns and service requests.

    • Communicate effectively with customers and ensure expectations are met or exceeded.

    • Analyse problem causes and arrange quotes for repair authorisations.

  5. Workshop & Safety Compliance:

    • Maintain high safety standards in both workshop and customer environments.

    • Ensure required spares and tools are prepared for each job.

    • Participate in the company’s standby rotation team.

Additional Information
  • Role reports to the Regional Workshops and Spares Manager.

  • Position is onsite, based in Johannesburg.
