Job summary

A leading fabrication company in Johannesburg seeks a Supervisor for their welding department. The ideal candidate will oversee welders, ensuring smooth workflow while participating in the fabrication process. Candidates must be experienced, with a Red seal in Welding, capable of interpreting drawings and managing tasks effectively. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to handle pressure. This is an on-site position in a high-energy environment.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience as a Semi-skilled boilermaker is required.
• Must have own reliable transport.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the work of welders and assign tasks.
• Ensure smooth workflow in the welding department.
• Participate in the fabrication of metal components.

Job description

A supervisory role within a welding or fabrication environment.

• Able to read and interpret Engineering drawings
• Liaising with Production teams
• Overseeing the work of welders, assigning tasks, and ensuring smooth workflow
• Understanding welding processes, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, and troubleshooting welding issues.
• Participation in the fabrication of metal components including welding, cutting and shaping
• Usage of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and heavy machinery
• General tasks in department
• Adherence to safety protocols and regulations, including PPE
• Cleaning pressure vessel equipment
