A leading defense and security company is seeking a skilled Senior Business Development Manager to oversee strategic initiatives in South Africa. The role involves driving sales, managing bids, and ensuring effective commercial management. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, at least 5-10 years of experience, and a strong acumen in business principles. Overall responsible for developing the business based on customer needs, generation of order intake
Maintain effective communication within SGD and serve as the interface with Saab on Business Development matters.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders within SGD in relationship to Order Intake, and Business Development
Overall responsible for driving excellence and efficiency in Sales and Marketing including Business Development
Marketing, Sales and Bid Management
Business Development and Business Intelligence (BI)
Implementation, compliance and adaptation of processes, methods, tools and training related to winning business, and business development, etc.
Overall responsible for order intake, developing strategies and pursuing new business in an efficient and effective manner
Conduct large and complex deals, coordinate marketing efforts and business development, leading to contract sales
Manage bids in response to requests (RFP, RFI, PQQ, ROM etc.) for proposals from customers
Refining the processes and working methods to :
Sharpen the Winning Business process
Create a Business Map for the SGD describing the products / solutions and markets in a simple and logical manner
Lead negotiations with customers, relating to contractual issues, teaming arrangements, licensing arrangements and confidentiality agreements to deliver appropriate commercial outcomes
Undertake contractual management to maximise commercial outcomes and performance including advice on escalations, extensions, variations, and payments
Manage and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external customers
Responsible for ensuring that key commercial, legal and contractual issues are dealt with in an effective and efficient manner
Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic organization with a focus on collaboration
Ability to balance operational priorities and commercial imperatives
Commercial acumen and a sound understanding of business principles
Minimum 5-10 years' of demonstrated experience

Appropriate Bachelor's degree or higher and possess considerable senior-level experience
Management / leadership experience in business development, commercialization, contract management, negotiations, strategic management, stakeholder management are a must
