A student-run non-profit organization is looking for a Vice-President to oversee volunteer activities and support SHAWCO Education's goals. The role requires UCT students with a strong leadership background and excellent interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include leading meetings, planning initiatives, and acting as a main communication point between the board and volunteers. This position offers training, networking opportunities, and recognition for volunteer hours. Candidates must demonstrate academic excellence and effective teamwork abilities.

Reports to: Management of SHAWCO and the Board of SHAWCO

SHAWCO is a student‑run volunteer society, and a standalone Non‑profit Organisation (NPO).
This duality allows SHAWCO Education the unique opportunity to engage in a variety of projects and programmes.
The overall goal for SHAWCO Education is to help support students (high school and university), in as many ways as possible. The Vice‑President (VP) oversees the societal side of SHAWCO Education.
All the activities SHAWCO performs as a UCT society.
This would involve planning, facilitating and monitoring the activities of SHAWCO's volunteers and Senior Leadership (SL).
Due to this role, the VP will need to be confident while interacting with a wide variety of people and situations.
The VP will be trained, guided and assisted to offer the best opportunity to perform their roles.
This planning can take the following forms:
Current and potential projects SHAWCO will engage in include:
Opportunity to interact with a Non‑profit Organisation (NPO)
Interactions with SHAWCO employees with years of corporate and NPO experience
The chance to network with the various 3rd parties SHAWCO engages with (e.g., Dell)
Training in project management skills and other useful competencies for years to come

In total, the VP will need to engage ± 8 hours of SHAWCO work per week.
