Job summary

A manufacturing company in South Africa is looking for a leader to oversee all aspects of a production unit. This role requires coordinating a team of Physical Logistics operators to achieve targets while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in a production environment and relevant leadership qualifications. Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to enforce improvement processes are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Implement work organization to drive effective communication.

Education

Leadership/Management qualifications
3 - 5 years’ experience in production environment
Process leader work organization training or PSP training
Experience with BMW system and procedures

Purpose

  • To plan, lead, organize and control all aspects and activities within the specific work unit to ensure the daily meeting of targets (quality, cost, delivery and safety) and continuous improvement through the disciplinary supervision of hourly associates, coaching of process supporters and all line activities while improving all relevant standards.
  • Leading a team of Physical Logistics operators to ensure all warehouse tasks, incl. supply to the line / SUMA
  • To achieve daily volume targets through mean time to repair and mean time between failures by proactively managing and initiating
  • To identify non-conformances, provide all customer concerns to the associates, initiate problem solving and implement robust solutions
  • To ensure process adherence, optimise and monitor core processes to ensure stability and continuous improvement
  • To manage and achieve allocated section budget as cost per unit target for the section to remain profitable and cost effective
  • To ensure a healthy and safe environment through enforcing compliance to JMS requirements
  • Daily implementation of work organisation within areas of responsibility to drive effective communication and structured work within the production system

Education:

  • Leadership/Management qualifications would be an advantage.
  • 3 -5 years’ experience in production environment/ motor/ related industry.
  • Process leader work organization training or PSP training
  • Working experience of BMW system and procedures
