Basic Job Description

Responsible for the overall management of the Tool Room and Machine Shop, including development, performance and maintenance of the tool room and stock control to produce an efficient system and delivery solution, maximizing performance and minimizing costs. Manage and supervise all day-to-day activities in the Tool Room and Machine Shop. Maintain accurate tool inventory and oversee the issue and return of tools to production. Ensure all tools and dies are maintained properly and are in good working condition.

Minimum requirements

• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to lead a team effectively
• Previous management experience essential
• Proven experience in driving and motivating a team to supply tooling requirements as well as developing the potential of all team members
• Strong understanding of CAD (computer aided design) software and other related technologies used in tool manufacturing and maintenance
• Experience in Tooling – ability to make tools and understands Milling and Turning machines and can estimate machining times and costings
• Material planning and tool manufacturing planning
• Previous experience in a production environment
• Planning of tool manufacturing – able to provide accurate delivery dates
• Managing of the tool manufacturing plans
• Managing of the committed delivery dates for tools
