Job summary

A leading technical training provider is looking for a Technical Trainer to design, deliver, and assess OEM-grade training for Commercial Vehicle and Light Commercial Vehicle technicians. The role involves coaching in-dealership teams and travel across South Africa and Africa. Essential qualifications include a Red Seal Diesel/Motor Mechanic qualification and experience in training delivery and dealership environments. The position is based in Pretoria with a fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

  • Technical Trainer experience within an OEM or premium brand is advantageous.
  • Dealership workshop background (technician / foreman / diagnostician).
  • Valid Code B licence and valid passport required.
  • Authorized to work in South Africa.
  • Fluent, well-spoken English required.

Job description
Introduction

The Opportunity Join a high-impact programme to upskill Commercial Vehicle (CV) and Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) dealer technicians from apprentice to master level. You'll design, deliver, and assess OEM-grade training while coaching in-dealership teams nationwide and across the continent.

  • Support product launches & aftersales excellence
  • Travel (South Africa + periodic African trips)
Desired Experience & Qualification

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • OEM-level mastery of CV / LCV systems: engines, drivelines, emissions, brakes, electrical/electronics, ADAS, CAN-bus, HVAC, telematics
  • Advanced diagnostics: OEM platforms, oscilloscopes, guided fault-finding, root-cause analysis
  • Proven training delivery: classroom, workshop, live-online for diverse technical audiences
  • Instructional design: SAQA / merSETA-aligned modules, taskbooks, practical assessments
  • Competency assessment: RPL, moderation, evidence portfolios, Kirkpatrick evaluation
  • Digital fluency: LMS, Articulate / Rise, Microsoft, micro-learning videos
  • Field coaching: on-site technician upskilling and dealer performance uplift
  • Safety & compliance: OHS, HV awareness, POPIA recordkeeping
  • Articulate English: credible with OEM and dealer stakeholders
Minimum Requirements
  • Red Seal Diesel / Motor Mechanic
  • N6 / National Diploma (Mechanical / Automotive)
  • Technical Trainer experience within an OEM or premium brand (Advantageous)
  • Dealership workshop background (technician / foreman / diagnostician)
  • Valid Code B licence + valid passport
  • Authorised to work in South Africa
  • Fluent, well-spoken English (clear diction for training delivery)

  • ETDP Assessor / Moderator accreditation
  • HV safety (L2 / L3)
  • ADAS / telematics training experience
Package & Remuneration
  • 12 months fixed-term contract
  • Pretoria-based (home office + training venues)
  • Extensive travel (national + Africa) – Must have a valid passport
  • Training experience advantageous but not compulsory – OEM technical mastery is non-negotiable
