Job description

Our client, a leading listed organisation based in Gauteng, is seeking a detail-driven and proactive Tax Administrator to join their Finance & Tax team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant tax submissions for multiple Southern African jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong tax administration experience, the ability to interpret and apply multi-country tax legislation, and the maturity to engage with internal stakeholders and tax authorities professionally and confidently.

Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
  • Manage and prepare tax submissions for VAT, Income Tax, Withholding Tax, and PAYE across all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Ensure full compliance with local legislation and submit accurate tax returns and payments within statutory deadlines.
  • Support tax audits by preparing required documentation and responding to authority queries.
Tax Calculations & Reconciliations:
  • Prepare and review tax calculations for multiple countries.
  • Reconcile tax accounts, ensuring accuracy of all recorded tax transactions.
  • Produce regular tax reports for management, highlighting liabilities, risks, and potential tax-saving opportunities.
Documentation & Record Management:
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date tax records for each country.
  • File and safeguard all returns, payments, and correspondence with tax authorities.
Cross-Border Tax Administration:
  • Monitor tax legislation changes in the five operating countries and communicate relevant developments.
  • Provide guidance on cross-border transactions, intercompany pricing, and tax implications related to operational activities.
  • Support the Tax Manager in optimising group tax efficiency across jurisdictions.
Tax Advisory & Internal Support:
  • Assist finance teams with VAT queries, expense claims, tax treatments, and compliance requirements.
Liaison with Tax Authorities:
  • Respond to ad-hoc tax-related questions from internal stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for engagements with tax authorities across all countries.
  • Assist in resolving disputes, penalties, or assessments efficiently and professionally.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CTA, CA(SA), ACCA, or studying towards a recognised tax qualification (advantageous).
Experience Required:
  • 13 years experience in tax compliance and administration.
  • Experience covering Southern African tax jurisdictions
  • Strong working knowledge of VAT, Corporate Tax, Income Tax, and Payroll Tax.
  • Proficiency in tax reporting software and MS Excel.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex tax concepts.
