About the Team

The Systems Engineer role will be part of the Sales Engineering team located in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. This team is dedicated to collaborating with the sales department to technically qualify customer needs and ensure their successful engagement with Nutanix products. The team culture emphasizes communication, customer focus, and collaboration, creating an environment where team members support each other and work closely with account managers to drive sales opportunities. The mission of the team is to foster strong customer relationships and provide tailored solutions that enhance the Nutanix customer experience.

The travel requirements for this role include traveling to customer sites within Gauteng, as well as potential trips to Cape Town and other regions across South Africa. Additionally, there may be responsibilities that require flights to neighboring countries within the SADC region. International travel for company events is also required.

Your Role
  • Provide technical skill support to the sales team to close deals and win customers.
  • Conduct presentations, demonstrations, and proof of concepts tailored to customer needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales, channel, and marketing teams for effective customer engagement.
  • Deliver technical sales solutions, ensuring customer adoption and proper utilization of software.
  • Plan and execute customer visits to explore and understand business opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of core products, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Facilitate team collaboration and knowledge sharing to achieve collective success.
  • Achieve individual performance metrics tied to sales targets and customer engagement objectives.
What You Will Bring
  • 6+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role with 3+ years’ experience as a Pre-sales Engineer.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in the technical specifications required to sell Nutanix products and services to large enterprises.
  • A deep understanding of the region and how the drive for simplicity, cloud-first strategies, and cost savings can build positive relationships and deliver significant sales success.
  • Hands-on technical aptitude and the agility to adapt according to market demands.
  • Strong background in virtualization, storage, and cloud technology.
  • Solid Pre-Sales background with the ability to present solutions and conduct demonstrations.
  • Analytical approach to solving complex problems, with the ability to clearly describe the situation and suggest a solution strategy.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Technical advisory skills with a focus on customer engagement and relationship building.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and account managers.

Work Arrangement
