Job summary

A leading South African financial services company is seeking a Procurement Manager to develop and implement procurement strategies. Responsibilities include creating Supplier Relationship Management capabilities, establishing standards, and engaging stakeholders. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Supply Chain Management and possesses strong negotiation and performance management skills. This role offers an opportunity to influence procurement transformation at an organizational level.

Responsibilities

  • Create a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) capability within procurement.
  • Develop minimum standards and processes aligned to SRM objectives.
  • Create knowledge management tools to enable effective implementation.
  • Establish a fit-for-purpose business partnering model.
  • Target commercial benefits through supplier relationship management.
  • Ensure procurement SOPs are updated and reflect best practices.
  • Communicate action plans and motivate people to achieve goals.
  • Identify stakeholders and respond to support business decisions.
  • Develop and/or deliver budget plans.
  • Set objectives and manage performance.
  • Identify development needs and implement capability-building actions.

Job Description

This role is accountable for the development and implementation of parts of the procurement strategy, and the execution of tactical business plans at an operational level, through other managers and their teams, over periods of 3 months to 1 year.

Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Create a Supplier Relationship Management “SRM” capability within procurement by embedding the SRM framework and methodology
  • Developing and agreeing minimum standards and processes, aligned to the SRM objectives for the organization
  • Creating a knowledge management tool set, templates and guides to enable effective implementation
  • Establish and manage a fit‑for‑purpose business partnering model to support procurement transformation across the organization
  • Target commercial benefits through the supplier relationship management methodology of contract management and continuous optimisation
  • Ensure procurement SOPs, minimum standards are updated, are aligned to procurement policy and reflect best practices. Enact change management as required for procurement and supported business areas
  • Support procurement policy reviews, continuous improvement and effective implementation across supported business areas
  • Leadership and Direction: Communicate action plans and motivate people to achieve business goals
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Identify stakeholders, understand their needs, and respond to support business decisions
  • Budgeting: Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues
  • Performance Management: Set objectives, manage performance, and take corrective action where required
  • Organisational Capability Building: Identify development needs and implement capability‑building actions, including coaching and training
