Job Description
  • Supervise storage staff.
  • Assist with client complaints/queries in regard to storage/shipment.
  • Ensure samples are ready for collection as a complete batch and/or as per client request.
  • Ensure that store(s) are arranged in an orderly manner.
  • Rejects and Pulps to be arranged in order of client and complete jobs/batches.
  • Ensure all relevant documents for chain of custody are properly documented, signed and filed.
  • Ensure accurate records are kept when samples are moved, disposed or returned.
  • Ensure inventory records are kept and updated to date.
  • Communicate with Logistics Supervisor with regards to all aspects of the job.
  • Comply and conform to Laboratory Quality Management System (ISO17025).
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.
  • Has the authority to instruct and delegate work to all staff in Sample Storage.
  • Ensure compliance with SGS Health and Safety Act.
  • Adhere to SGS general safety rules and rules of contact.
  • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
  • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
  • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
