Head of Flavours

for a medium-sized flavour company

  • Location: Johannesburg area
  • You will lead a small team

Tasks

Purpose of the position:

  • Team Leading
  • Create and develop flavours.
  • Provide technical direction and expertise during product development in flavour development and application.
  • Lead new flavour concepts and product exploration to expand and enhance the current product range.
  • Coordinate department activities such as application matching, creation, selection, and sampling to support the company's goals, strategic direction, and client expectations.
Roles and responsibilities:
  • Lead all department activities, including new flavour concepts, systems, and processes.
  • Develop new flavours according to specifications and briefs.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate a strategy for growing the company's flavour business both locally and internationally.
  • Assist with regular market evaluation.
  • Facilitate formal briefing sessions between development and sales teams.
  • Provide regular product updates to sales teams and gather client feedback.
  • Ensure samples meet specifications and turnaround time expectations.
  • Explore new business opportunities and market trends.
  • Foster creativity, continuous professional development, and knowledge sharing among staff.
  • Grow revenue and market share by expanding the product base and supporting sales efforts.
  • Identify and refresh the company's product offerings.
  • Provide technical support to sales for bespoke flavour creation.
  • Manage raw materials, formulations, and intellectual property data.
  • Ensure the flavour department is efficient and capable of meeting business targets.
