Job description
Sewing Specialist – Freelance AI Trainer Project

South Africa

Are you an experienced sewing professional with hands‑on knowledge of sewing machines, production lines, and garment assembly eager to help shape how AI understands manufacturing work? As AI systems increasingly model factory operations and production workflows, their accuracy depends on training data grounded in real sewing environments. That training data begins with people who know the work firsthand.

We’re seeking Sewing Specialists with tangible, hands‑on experience operating sewing machines and working within garment production lines. This includes experience with sewing line operations, task flow between stations, and multi‑purpose manufacturing operators that support material movement and production efficiency. You’ll challenge AI models on realistic sewing and assembly scenarios involving machine operation, workflow coordination, production pacing, and common operational issues on the factory floor.

On a typical day, you will engage the model on sewing and production‑line scenarios, validate whether its understanding of sewing operations reflects real‑world practice, evaluate descriptions of machine use and line coordination, analyze workflow inefficiencies or errors, document gaps in model understanding, and provide feedback to improve how the model reasons about garment production work.

General sewing and garment manufacturing experience is ideal, including familiarity with industrial sewing machines, assembly‑line processes, and day‑to‑day production operations. This project does not require formal education; hands‑on experience in sewing, sewing line management, or factory floor support experience is highly valued. Clear communication and the ability to explain how sewing work actually happens in production settings are essential.

Ready to turn your sewing and production‑line experience into the knowledge base for tomorrow’s AI? Apply today and help teach the model how garments are truly made.

We offer a pay range of $6‑to‑$15 per hour, with the exact rate determined after evaluating your experience, expertise, and geographic location. Final offer amounts may vary from the pay range listed above. As a contractor you’ll supply a secure computer and high‑speed internet; company‑sponsored benefits such as health insurance and PTO do not apply.
