Job Title: SEO Specialist/Copy Writer

Employment type: Full time

Location: Foreshore, Cape Town

Reporting to: Digital Marketing Manager

Working Setup: 40 hours per week, Mondays to Fridays, 10:00 to 19:00. Hybrid, with Mondays and Fridays being mandatory office days.

The business is currently concentrating on the UK commercial financial sector, alongside a leading Employer of Record and recruitment company in South Africa. Our strategy is centred on digitalisation, automation and operational excellence, using data, systems and AI to create scalable, high-performance businesses.

The Role: We are looking for a commercially minded, technically strong SEO Specialist to own and drive organic growth across a portfolio of B2B brands in the finance brokerage and recruitment/EOR sectors. This role blends technical SEO, content writing and optimisation, performance analysis, and conversion rate optimisation, with a strong focus on writing high-quality, search-led content ecosystems that drive qualified traffic and measurable business outcomes. You will work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager, brand Directors, and subject matter experts to execute SEO strategies across UK and SA markets.

Responsibilities

Content & SEO Writing Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience creating and optimising SEO-driven content, including blog articles, landing pages, and long-form website content.
  • Strong understanding of search intent, content structuring, and topical authority.
  • Proven ability to optimise existing content to improve rankings, engagement, and conversion performance.
  • Experience briefing, editing, and improving content to ensure it meets SEO best practice, E-E-A-T standards, and YMYL guidelines.
  • Confident writing and/or heavy editing of clear, accurate, and engaging B2B content, ideally within finance, recruitment, HR, or professional services environments.
  • Ability to translate complex or technical topics into accessible, business-focused content.
  • Experience building and managing content calendars, briefs, and optimisation roadmaps.
  • Strong on-page SEO execution skills, including headings, internal linking, metadata, schema integration, and content refresh strategies.
Content Optimisation & Keyword Strategy
  • Conduct in-depth keyword research aligned with business objectives and search intent.
  • Build and maintain prioritised keyword sets and content plans for multiple brands.
  • Audit existing content and implement on-page SEO improvements (titles, meta data, headings, internal linking, schema).
  • Maintain a content roadmap balancing new content creation with continuous optimisation of existing assets.
  • Ensure all content meets YMYL standards and demonstrates strong E-E-A-T principles.
  • Optimise content to improve rankings, engagement, and conversion performance.
Content & Link Acquisition Support
  • Support and guide the creation of SEO-optimised blog posts, landing pages, and service content.
  • Assist with content strategies for UK and international finance brokerage audiences, and international recruitment and EOR markets (UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia).
  • Identify and pursue ethical link-building opportunities.
  • Support outreach, guest posting, and digital PR initiatives.
  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.

Content, SEO & Link-Building Performance Tracking

  • Track and analyse the performance of all SEO-driven activity, including content creation, content optimisation, and link acquisition.
  • Monitor keyword rankings, impressions, click-through rates, and visibility trends at page, topic, and site level.
  • Measure content effectiveness using metrics such as organic traffic, engagement, assisted conversions, and lead quality.
  • Build performance dashboards and monthly reports covering:
    • New content impact
    • Content refresh and optimisation gains
    • Backlink acquisition, authority growth, and link quality
    • Technical health indicators affecting organic performance
  • Attribute ranking and traffic improvements to specific content and optimisation initiatives.
  • Track link-building outcomes including referring domains, authority metrics, anchor distribution, and lost/gained links.
  • Identify underperforming content and backlink gaps, turning insight into actionable optimisation and content briefs.
  • Use GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs/SEMrush, and crawling tools to continually refine SEO, content, and authority strategies.
  • Present findings clearly to stakeholders, translating data into commercial insight, prioritised actions, and ROI-driven decisions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ hands-on SEO experience, with at least 1 year in technical SEO on WordPress sites.
  • Proven hands-on experience writing SEO-optimised content, including blog articles, long-form guides, service pages, and conversion-focused landing pages.
  • Proven experience resolving technical SEO issues including site speed, crawl errors, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Strong working knowledge of: Google Search Console, GA4; Screaming Frog, Ahrefs and/or SEMrush or similar
  • Experience implementing SEO tracking, managing dashboards, and producing performance reports.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Commercially aware, analytical, and solutions-driven.

Compensation and Incentives:

Base Salary:

  • Monthly base salary: R22,000.00 - R25,000.00 based on experience.
