Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Risk/Safety Officer in Johannesburg to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in implementing Health and Safety Systems in industrial environments and knowledge of the OHS Act and ISO standards. You will maintain a safe workplace and foster a safety culture while advising on hazard reduction measures. The position requires a SAMTRAC Certificate, a National Diploma in Health & Safety Management, and relevant experience managing contractors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.
• Environmental & Quality qualification an advantage.
• Experience working in an environment with Hazardous Chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act guidelines.
• Ensure establishment of a safe workplace according to legal standards.
• Advise on measures to minimize hazards and unhealthy situations.

Skills

SAMTRAC Certificate or equivalent SHE training

Computer literacy, with MS Office (excel intermediate to advanced)

Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act

Experience managing contractors in line with OHSA

Experience in an industrial environment

Education

National Diploma in Health & Safety Management

National Senior Certificate / Matric

First Aid level 2 Basic Certificate
