Job summary

Job Advert Summary

To provide support in routine and non-routine specialized water and solids analysis, equipment preparation and housekeeping in the laboratory.

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma Chemistry, Microbiology or Equivalent
• 2 years’ experience working in a routine or research laboratory / environment
• Valid Code 08 driver’s license

Primary Duties

• Collection and sampling of water and solids samples conducted as per project schedule.
• Sampling and basic analysis conducted as per project’s scheduled sampling programme.
• Ensure that there is sufficient deionised/ distilled water in the laboratory.
• Conduct all routine and non-routine sampling and analysis in time.
• Cleaning of laboratory glassware on daily basis
• Store glassware as per method requirement
• Ensure that the laboratory and chemical storeroom are always clean and neat
• Timely removal of hazardous and toxic waste in the laboratory
• Perform basic laboratory water and solids analysis utilizing standard methods and equipment
• Perform routine logging and testing of water and solids samples
• Adhere to legal and Rand Water safety, health environment and quality standards relating to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001.
