Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced attorney to ensure compliance for wagering entities in South Africa. The successful candidate will have 8+ years in corporate law, especially in betting or fintech, and will manage licensing, governance, and legal compliance matters. Fluency in English and knowledge of local regulations are essential. This is a full-time position based in Cape Town with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ corporate/commercial experience in regulated sectors.
• Knowledge of SARB exchange-control rules required.
• Fluency in Afrikaans or another local language is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with CIPC records and B-BBEE certificates.
• Lead licensing applications and manage regulatory approvals.
• Draft commercial contracts and ensure compliance with gambling laws.
• Guide finance on exchange-control approvals for dividends and loans.
• Conduct legal due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
• Manage disputes and litigation counsel under fee arrangements.
• Implement governance training for leadership.
