Job summary

A recognized safety services provider in South Africa is looking for a Sales Executive to promote and sell fire detection and suppression solutions. The role involves identifying new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with fire safety standards. Candidates should have at least 2-3 years in sales, a solid understanding of fire safety systems, and strong negotiation skills. This position requires a valid driver's license and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

Job description
Job Purpose

The Sales Executive – Detection and Suppression is responsible for driving sales growth by promoting, selling, and supporting fire detection and fire suppression solutions. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring solutions meet client compliance, safety, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within fire detection and suppression markets.
  • Promote fire detection systems (e.g. smoke, heat, gas detection) and fire suppression systems (e.g. gaseous, foam, water mist, wet chemical).
  • Prepare and present quotations, proposals, and tenders in line with company standards.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Conduct site visits to assess client requirements and propose suitable solutions.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the sales process.
  • Provide professional advice on system selection, compliance, and best practices.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and after-sales support.

Technical & Compliance Support

  • Work closely with technical and operations teams to ensure accurate system design and costing.
  • Ensure solutions comply with relevant fire safety standards and regulations (e.g. SANS, NFPA where applicable).
  • Liaise with engineers and project teams to ensure smooth handover from sales to implementation.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate sales records, pipelines, and forecasts.
  • Update CRM systems with client interactions and opportunities.
  • Submit regular sales reports to management.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric (Grade 12) – essential
  • Relevant sales qualification or fire industry training – advantageous
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in fire detection and/or suppression sales
  • Strong understanding of fire safety systems and industry standards
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
