A trendy independent retail business seeks a qualified Accountant to manage the full retail accounting function. The role involves preparation and reconciliation of accounts, payroll administration, and inventory control. Candidates should have an Accounting qualification and 3 to 5 years of experience. Proficiency in Pastel Accounting and MS Excel is essential. The position is based on-site in Parktown North/Rosebank.

Job Description
A trendy and upmarket independent retail business is looking to hire a qualified Accountant to join their team. You'll report to the Group Financial Manager and be responsible for the full retail accounting function of the business. You'll have excellent knowledge of accounting practices and be able to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, processing and reconciling, of creditors/debtors/bank/sales
  • Accurate accounts to TB
  • Payroll administration, shift calculations
  • Preparation and maintenance of fixed asset register and depreciation calculation
  • Following up with debtors for payment
  • Invoicing/ payments: supplier and customer invoices and payments - processing and recons
  • VAT/ PAYE processing/ reconciliations and submissions,
  • Reconciliation of credit cards and cash received to daily cash ups
  • Processing of GRV onto the stock system
  • Inventory control and reporting on stock
  • Preparing and managing cash flow projections
  • Handle all accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Reconcile accounts promptly and efficiently, including bank
  • Enter all financial transaction data into the database daily

Requirements
  • Completed Accounting or Financial qualification
  • 3 to 5 years' accounting and financial administration experience
  • Proficient in Pastel Accounting software
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel
  • Knowledge of POS (Point-of-Sale Systems) is helpful
  • Understanding of low value/high volume transactions
  • Willingness and ability to work on site, in Parktown North/Rosebank and sometimes in Hyde Park
  • Preference for candidates who are available immediately
