REGIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER KZN

Job Description

The KZN Regional Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational performance of the region, covering sales, marketing, revenue growth, stakeholder management, network rollout, network maintenance, network quality and health and safety. He / she ensures the consistent delivery of services, adherence to company policies, and achievement of regional targets within budget. This includes managing day-to-day operations, developing and implementing strategies, and leading teams to maximize performance and efficiency.

The role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborates with Programme Management, Network Operations and Products and Customer Value Management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales Delivery:
    • The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for sales growth covering acquisition of new rollout areas for optic fibre and radio networks.
    • Business development for business to business as well as wholesale business market.
    • He/ she must increase the number of profitable customers.
    • He/she must increase the number of days each customer is attached to the network.
  • Revenue Growth:
    • Ilitha invests a router in every home upfront and provides broadband service on prepaid basis, it is therefore important that we ensure that customers buy the services so that Ilitha can achieve its return on investment objectives. To achieve this the Regional Operations Manager will undertake the following revenue enhancing activities in addition to sales activities mentioned in bullet point 1 above.
    • Ensure that all routers installed in a home are online
    • Ensure that all the homes connected to the network recharge at least once a month
    • Ensure that a large proportion of the homes recharge for 30-day packages
    • Ensure that a large proportion of the homes buy Ekhaya or 10 device package or higher
    • Ensure higher adoption of internet use cases including TV, Infotainment, Household security
    • Support the development of local content projects
  • Operational Management:
    • Overseeing day-to-day operations, including network maintenance, service delivery, and customer support within the region.
    • Reduce the meantime to install customer orders
    • Reduce meantime to repair customer faults
    • Ensure higher level of network performance.
    • Ensure high levels of occupational Health and Safety
  • Marketing and Communications: Lead trade marketing activities and promotion of Ilitha’s proposition ensuring increased adoption of Ilitha’s services in the market.
  • Performance Management: Ensuring the meet or exceed targets, analyzing operational data, and reporting on performance metrics.
  • Team Leadership: Hiring, training, and managing staff, including performance management and career development.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with local managers, regional teams, and other departments to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Social Facilitation: Ensure community engagement in every project Ilitha is implementing in the community balancing community needs and Ilitha Telecommunications business needs. Reduce the negative externalities of any of the Ilitha Telecommunications projects through social facilitation and ensuring the environmental aspects are well managed.
  • Financial Management: Managing budgets, controlling costs, and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Compliance: Ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory frameworks, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating operational risks within the region.
  • Vendor Management: Managing vendors for maintenance, equipment, and other operational needs.
  • Project Management: Overseeing the implementation of regional projects and initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a managerial role, preferably within the telecommunications industry.
  • Education: Bachelor\'s degree or diploma in engineering, telecommunications, information technology, or a related field.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, protocols, and technologies.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve operational issues effectively.
