A leading provider in field guiding placements in South Africa seeks an experienced Recruitment Consultant to manage the end-to-end recruitment process for lodge staff and field guides. The role demands a minimum of 3 years in recruitment, strong knowledge of industry qualifications, and the ability to assess cultural fit beyond CVs. Recruitment Consultant – Lodge & Field Guide Placements

Bushwise is a leading provider of professional field guide training and career placements within the Southern African conservation and ecotourism industry. We work closely with lodges, reserves, and conservation-focused employers to match top-tier talent with meaningful opportunities across the safari and guiding sectors.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Recruiter to lead the charge in placing field guides and lodge-based professionals into rewarding roles across Southern Africa. This role is critical to our mission of delivering high-quality, industry-ready candidates to our employer partners.

The ideal candidate will have intimate knowledge of the safari lodge and field guiding landscape , including industry standards, required qualifications, and the unique challenges and expectations of both clients and candidates in remote environments.

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for field guides, lodge staff, and related roles
  • Source, screen, and assess candidates with relevant Nature Site Guide and Trails Qualifications, CATHSSETA etc.
  • Build strong relationships with lodge managers, reserve owners, and industry partners to understand hiring needs
  • Maintain an active candidate database aligned with upcoming lodge cycles and hiring trends
    Conduct detailed interviews and pre-screening processes, including reference and qualification check
  • Provide guidance and support to candidates around interview preparation, contracts, and lodge life expectations
  • Drive proactive headhunting for niche roles in the field guiding and hospitality sector
  • Ensure a high-quality candidate and client experience throughout the recruitment process
Requirements
  • Proven recruitment experience within the safari lodge and/or field guiding industry (minimum 3 years)
  • Deep understanding of qualifications such as, Trails Guide, PDP, and ARH requirements
  • Strong network of contacts within the ecotourism, game reserve, and lodge management space
  • Ability to assess candidate suitability beyond CVs – including cultural fit, professionalism, and guest-readiness
  • Experience in high-volume and fast-paced hiring environments
  • Excellent communication, administration, and stakeholder management skills
  • Tech-savvy with experience using recruitment CRMs or applicant tracking systems
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to working in a remote setup
