Quality Control Officer (Yellow Plant Equipment) - XCQC

Job Title: Quality Control Officer (Yellow Plant Equipment)

Location: Centurion / Kempton / Lepalale

Job Type: 5 month contract, expected to work Full‑time hours

Job Duties
  1. Product & Process Inspections
    • Inspect raw materials, in‑process items, and finished products.
    • Check measurements, dimensions, tolerances, and appearance.
    • Identify defects, non‑conformances, or deviations from standards.
    • Conduct routine sampling and testing according to QC procedures.
  2. Quality Verification & Compliance
    • Ensure products meet company specifications, industry standards, and legal / regulatory requirements.
    • Verify compliance with ISO or other relevant quality management systems.
    • Implement quality checklists, inspection sheets, and compliance documentation.
  3. Recording & Reporting
    • Document inspection results clearly and accurately.
    • Maintain daily QC reports, non‑conformance records (NCRs), quality logs, and corrective action documents.
    • Provide feedback to production supervisors, line managers, and QA teams.
  4. Non‑Conformance Management
    • Identify defective materials or products.
    • Quarantine or isolate non‑conforming items.
    • Raise NCRs and report deviations immediately.
    • Participate in root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams).
    • Recommend or follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  5. Process Monitoring & Improvement
    • Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and adherence to procedures.
    • Suggest improvements to reduce waste, defects, and rework.
    • Participate in continuous improvement programmes such as Lean, Kaizen or Six Sigma.
  6. Equipment & Tool Calibration
    • Ensure measuring devices, gauges, and inspection equipment are calibrated.
    • Report faulty or inaccurate instruments.
    • Maintain calibration records where required.
  7. Safety, Hygiene & Compliance (industry‑specific)
    • Enforce safety, hygiene, and housekeeping standards.
    • Conduct visual inspections for hazards or unsafe practices.
    • Support compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
  8. Supporting Production Teams
    • Work closely with production managers, supervisors, engineers, and QA teams.
    • Provide immediate feedback to prevent poor‑quality output.
    • Assist with training staff on quality procedures and best practices.
  9. Audits
    • Assist internal or external audits.
    • Provide documentation and evidence for audit requirements.
    • Help close audit findings and implement corrections.
  10. Customer & Supplier Interaction (when required)
    • Communicate quality issues to suppliers for raw materials.
    • Provide quality reports or documentation to clients.
    • Participate in supplier quality assessments (if applicable).
Required Qualifications
  • Occupational Certificate: Quality Controller — NQF Level 4 (SAQA)
  • 8 years of experience in quality control and assurance
  • Skills in Yellow Plant equipment assembly and commissioning
  • Knowledge of quality standards, regulatory frameworks and methodologies — e.g., ISO (and in some sectors IATF), process control tools/methods, audits, inspections, statistical or inspection‑based quality tests, and safety regulations.
  • Must have sound knowledge in mining haul trucks
