Job Description

DAG seeks to employ a Project Coordinator for the Urban Land for Inclusive Cities Programme, based in Cape Town. The position will be permanent, subject to continued donor funding, related co-financing, consultancy income, and any financial constraints that may arise. It will also be subject to a probation period. This position is based in Cape Town; no relocation costs will be covered.

Essential Job Requirements
  • Assist in conceptualising, planning, and implementing projects as part of the National Land Value Capture Programme that advances spatial justice and inclusive urban development.
  • Assist in leading and coordinating activities that promote equitable access to urban land, strengthen policy advocacy, and build partnerships across sectors.
  • Actively lobby and advocate for DAG’s strategies and programme objectives in public forums and stakeholder platforms.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination & Delivery
    • Lead and support projects that promote inclusive cities through innovative land value capture and land management tools.
    • Prepare project briefs, training materials, and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery within budget.
  • Policy & Advocacy
    • Distil lessons from projects into actionable policy recommendations and advocate for equitable access to land through multi‑stakeholder engagements, lobbying, and strategic campaigns.
  • Partnerships & Networking
    • Maintain relationships with government, private sector, and civil society actors.
    • Represent DAG at public forums and facilitate collaborative dialogues.
  • Research & Learning
    • Conduct research and impact assessments to inform programme strategies.
    • Translate project insights into organisational learning and sector‑wide best practices.
  • Communication & Reporting
    • Assist with the preparation of donor reports, funding proposals, and advocacy materials.
    • Amplify DAG’s voice through social media, blogs, and public communication platforms.
  • Compliance & Administration
    • Ensure adherence to organisational systems, ICT protocols, and reporting standards.
    • Assist with managing consultants and contractors, including performance monitoring and payments.
Qualifications And Requirements
Educational Qualifications / Experience
  • Relevant Post‑Graduate University Degree (Preferably a Master’s Degree) in Urban Planning, Architecture, Land Economics, or Property Studies, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in urban development, housing, or land policy sectors.
Requirements
  • Excellent coordination and project management skills. In‑depth understanding of development sector issues, housing, and urban policy frameworks.
  • Familiarity with key stakeholders and processes in housing delivery.
  • Excellent networking, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent time, resource, and project management abilities.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and resolve conflicts effectively. Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Excellent conceptual thinking, report writing, and creative initiative.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with team members and partners.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and collaborative approach.
  • Working knowledge of training methodologies and facilitation techniques.
