Job description

Product Manager: Credit Platform – (Mid, 2+ years’ experience)

Pinelands, Cape Town | Hybrid

We’re building a new credit platform that integrates bureau data, partner systems, decisioning logic and customer journeys into a single scalable product used to help South Africans make better financial decisions.

We’re looking for a Product Manager who enjoys solving complex problems at the intersection of data, technology and customer experience, and who wants real ownership over a growing platform.

About IDM

Intelligent Debt Management (IDM) is a South African leader in personal financial wellness. The group includes South Africa's largest debt counsellor, DebtBusters; a renowned financial advice brand, JustMoney; a major credit bureau reseller, Kudough; and a successful joint venture with Sanlam, Sanlam Credit Solutions.

Since 2018, we’ve harnessed data, design and technology to build and optimize credit platforms. Our efforts have resulted in over 2.5 million active users, delivering measurable financial outcomes for both users and business partners. Now, we’re expanding to our next credit platform, and we want you to help us build it.

What you’ll do

As a Platform Product Manager, you will:

  • Shape the product vision and roadmap in partnership with business and technical teams.
  • Turn strategy into action by defining clear problem statements, backlog items, and success metrics.
  • Prioritise what matters most — balancing customer needs, data insights, and business goals.
  • Use experimentation and analytics to test assumptions, validate value, and improve performance.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and analysts to deliver impactful features.
  • Drive high-quality discovery, backlog refinement and delivery flow with stakeholders and development teams.
  • Translate customer insights and behavioural data into clear product decisions and trade-offs.
  • Align stakeholders around priorities, outcomes and delivery trade-offs in a complex environment.
What you’ll bring
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in product, business analysis, engineering, or software development.
  • Strong analytical thinking and comfort with data and systems.
  • The ability to make decisions using data and to experiment
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills — you’re comfortable leading discussions and building alignment.
  • Practical experience working in Agile product delivery environments and managing prioritised backlogs.
  • A knack for understanding customer journeys and improving user experience.
  • A self-starter mindset — you can manage your own work while keeping the bigger picture in focus.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, mathematics, science, or a related field.
Bonus points for
  • Exposure to the financial services industry and financial data.
  • Comfort reading technical designs, data models or analytical outputs.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops or cross-functional planning sessions.
  • Figma skills
What you’ll get
  • Clear growth pathways into senior product or people leadership roles as the platform scales.
  • A hybrid work model (onsite and remote)
  • Competitive packages, including medical and RA contributions
  • A values-driven culture focused on purpose and growth
  • Bursary program opportunities to further your education
  • Merit-based promotions in a growing, future-focused company
Why join IDM?

Every feature you help shape makes a real difference — giving South Africans the tools to understand, manage, and rebuild their financial lives. If you’re excited by purposeful innovation, complex data, and meaningful impact, you’ll feel right at home here.
