Process Science Lead Cape Town

Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Work Location: Hybrid
Travel %: 10%

Reports To: EMEA Process Science OTC Cluster Head

What You Will Do

The Process Science Lead Cape Town is responsible for leading and overseeing Technical Transfer projects, validation and process improvement initiatives, providing leadership, direction and technical expertise for a series of projects associated with the lifecycle management of OTC products manufactured at the Kenvue Capetown site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a Team of Validation Scientists
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in Technology Transfer projects, including preparation of product/process risk assessments, definition of de‑risking strategies and alignment with all involved functions on the transfer plan.
  • Responsible for process science activities related to Lifecycle Management projects, Manufacturing Process and Product Troubleshooting activities, as well as various Continuous Improvement initiatives. Drive efficient prioritization decision‑making and ensure Process Science technical voice is in place in applicable site project governance forums.
  • Ensure compliance and relevance of validation strategies defined and executed by the team, and the team’s continued inspection readiness.
  • Responsible for the development of all employees within the team to meet current and future business needs: Responsible to develop technical and leadership capabilities, skills and competencies of his/her team members to make sure the Process Science Team is equipped and has the right competences across all technologies in scope (liquid and solid) and is well prepared for the future product pipeline coming at the site.
  • Represent Process Science in the leadership team of Cape Town manufacturing site.
  • Although the primary scope of responsibility is Kenvue Cape Town, the role is part of the Process Science OTC leadership team and may therefore also support other locations in EMEA, based on experience and expertise.
Required Qualifications
  • Master of Science within a relevant chemistry or pharmaceutical area.
  • More than 8 years of experience in OTC and/or Pharma Manufacturing Process, Troubleshooting Management and Site Transfers.
  • Strong expertise in pharmaceutical dosage forms, such as solid dosage forms and liquids.
  • Broad knowledge of process development and validation requirements across Manufacturing, Packaging and Cleaning.
  • Understanding of regional and global regulatory requirements related to OTC products.
  • Strong leadership skills and Servant Leadership Attitude. Experience in people leadership and development.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and diplomacy, with ability to engage, influence and align with diverse and dispersed organizations, seniority levels and functions.
  • Flexible and persistent, with good conflict handling and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiencies in English and Microsoft Office applications are required.
