Overview

McAuley House School is a well established independent Catholic school founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1907. It is situated in Parktown West in Johannesburg, with easy access to and from the M1 motorway. The school follows the four term academic calendar and writes the GDE matriculation examinations.

Position

Primary School Sports Co-ordinator and Physical Education Teacher (Full-time post). Commencement date: 01 January 2026

Responsibilities
  • Teaching Physical Education and sports lessons as required in the timetable
  • Teaching swimming lessons
  • Coaching extra-mural sports
  • Sourcing suitable external coaches
  • Organising the inter-house sports events
  • Organising the inter-school sports calendar
  • Accompanying learners to matches and hosting and officiating at matches (weekdays and weekends)
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Education degree / PGCE or other suitable tertiary qualification and SACE registration
  • A swimming teacher’s and/or life-saving qualification
  • A coaching certificate in at least one sporting code
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • A clearance certificate in terms of Sexual Offenders Register
  • A willingness to support the ethos of McAuley House School and the vision and mission of Catholic education
