Job summary

A healthcare services company is seeking an experienced Pharmacist to provide professional pharmaceutical services at the Wits Donald Gordon Med Centre in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate should have a Master's/B Pharm/BSc Pharm degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a pharmacy setting. Role includes leading the department, managing stock, and overseeing departmental finances. This position is on-site, aiming to support both institutional and public health needs.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent is essential.
  • 5-7 years of pharmacological work experience in community or institutional pharmacy.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory/managerial experience in an institutional pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage department personeel.
  • Manage pharmaceutical stock including own, loan and consignment.
  • Manage departmental risks and budgets.
  • Deliver safe and efficient pharmaceutical services.
  • Provide an outpatient pharmacy service.

Main Purpose of Job

To ensure an efficient and professional pharmaceutical service is provided to the hospital and public.

Key Responsibility Areas

Lead and manage the people in the department.
Manage pharmaceutical stock (own, loan and consignment).
Manage and mitigate departmental risks.
Manage and control departmental budgets / finances.
Deliver a safe and efficient pharmaceutical service.
Provide an out-patient pharmacy service.

Required Education & Experience
  • Education: Master’s / B Pharm / BSc Pharm (essential)
  • Experience: 5-7 years working as a pharmacist in a community or institutional/hospital pharmacy.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience: 3-5 years in an institutional/hospital pharmacy.
