VALIDATION PHARMACIST – HEAD OFFICE (MIDRAND)

We work closely with healthcare providers to ensure safe, personalised access to oncology treatments, supported by efficient service and patient education. Responsibilities
  • To ensure that the correct medicines are picked for the correct patient as per the dispatch date.
  • To prioritise the validation of parcels to be dispatched on the day in conjunction with the pickers.
  • To investigate ways to reduce errors by focusing on a balance between volume and quality of work.
  • Compare all repeat one of six scripts with the original doctor script scanned on Marconi.
  • Validate all medicines as per the pharmacy council requirements.
  • Keep error rate to be less than 0.1% of total items validated.
  • Management of daily productivity targets.
  • Daily productivity set at items per day.
  • Only validate one order at a time and ensure that the validation desk is free of other parcels and products to minimise the mixing of products and parcels.
  • Process cold chain parcel so that the items are not spoilt.
  • No fridge parcels to be validated on a Friday or a day preceding a public holiday, unless otherwise instructed.

  • Cold chain items are not to be consolidated into the same bin as ambient stock.
  • To ensure that the accurate dosage has been picked by the pickers as per the script requirements.
  • To implement weekly feedback.
  • To record and submit picker errors weekly.
  • Marconi clean‑up of all parcels due for validation on the day to be done daily.
  • To ensure zero same day's as a result of a parcel not being validated.
  • To sign all script copies validated and checked.
  • To make sure that all cold chain items are indicated as such.
  • To ensure that the Pre + Post validation fridges are checked and cleared before each day unless according to alternate dispatch date.
  • To ensure the dispensary has been locked up and armed daily.
Required Skills
  • Pharm qualification.
  • Registered Pharmacist with SA Pharmacy Council.
  • Oncology experience an advantage.
