A dynamic technology firm in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced HR Officer to manage HR processes in a high-growth environment. The role requires at least 2-4 years of HR experience, strong knowledge of SA Labour Law, and proficiency in MS Office. Responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and ensuring compliance with business practices. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills and a proactive approach to support employees effectively.
This role will be managing HR processes in a high-growth, dynamic technology environment, with a strong focus on employee experience and regulatory compliance and operations of a range of human resources functions.
Working closely within the People & Culture team to implement improvements across all People functions, ensuring a strong system of support in place for the employees to develop and operate effectively.
This role will provide support across all aspects of our People strategy including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, performance management, benefits management, leave administration and all general people enquiries.
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as an HR Officer or HR Generalist
Experience of working in a fast-paced organisation, ideally a start-up environment.
Strong ability in using MS Office Suite.
Experience working with diverse and / or remote teams; understanding of nature of remote work environment would be advantageous.
In-depth knowledge of SA Labour Law, including LRA, BCEA, EE Act, and POPIA.
Commitment to strict confidentiality and ethical conduct.
Ability to analyse workplace issues objectively, recommend fair solutions, and mediate sensitive situations professionally.
Ability to build rapport and effectively communicate and advise employees and management across different technical and non-technical teams.
Exceptional attention to detail, strong administrative skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Proven proficiency in a leading HRIS / HRM system (e.g., Sage, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors).
Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel / Google Sheets for data analysis).
Demonstrated practical knowledge and application of key South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EE Act, SD Act).

Bachelor's degree / National Diploma in HRM, Industrial / Organisational Psychology or related.
Assist in preparation of job descriptions, person specifications, and job adverts.
Brief agencies on vacancies.
Manage the job posting process across internal and external career portals including LinkedIn.
Supporting hiring managers through shortlisting and setting up interview panels.
Draft offer letters, consultancy contracts and employment contracts.
Lead onboarding process for new team members and identifying ways to continuously improve the process.
Co-ordinate with Marketing the new employee welcome packs.
Manage the offboarding process that incorporates the logging forms, exit interviews,
Coordinate performance management lifecycle, including disseminating schedules for performance deliverables, tracking probation / 3-month goals.
Support any disciplinary and grievance process in a confidential and discreet manner with scheduling internal meetings, gathering evidence and drafting communications.
Assist with all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
Assist with performance management procedures.
Produce and submit reports on general HR activity.
Plan & Co-ordinate internal staff initiatives such as recognition programs and organizational events (e.g., birthday wishes, team events)
Maintain the central HR calendar, tracking key dates such as probation endings, performance review cycles, and training schedules.
Serve as the first point of contact for routine employee queries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
Assist in managing disciplinary and grievance processes, ensuring procedural fairness and adherence to the Labour Relations Act (LRA).
Support management in conflict resolution and promoting a positive, high-performance work environment.
Develop and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with peers and stakeholders
Continuously develop own expertise in terms of professional, industry and legislation knowledge
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records (both physical and electronic / HRIS), ensuring strict compliance with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act).
