Location: Remote (Samples received from all regions; core operations in Limpopo)

Start Date: Interviews in January; Start February

Salary: no budget - based on experience

About the Opportunity

Our client is launching an exciting new laboratory and diagnostics business, operating on a similar model to established industry leaders such as Lancet and PathCare.

This is a rare opportunity to join at foundation stage and become the clinical lead responsible for reviewing, authorising, and signing off pathology results across multiple regions.

We are seeking a registered, practising Pathologist (HPCSA) with a strong ethical foundation, passion for diagnostics, and a willingness to contribute to the growth of a new, modern pathology environment.

This role is ideal for both experienced practising pathologists and retired specialists seeking a less stressful, remote‑based role while still contributing to the profession.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, interpret, verify, and sign off laboratory results remotely.
  • Ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with HPCSA & National Laboratory Standards.
  • Maintain exceptional diagnostic quality across all sample types received from multiple regions.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and provide guidance when required.
  • Support laboratory accreditation processes and operational excellence.
  • Ensure ethical, professional, and legally compliant pathology practices.
  • Contribute to shaping clinical protocols for a new laboratory start‑up.
Minimum Requirements
  • Registered Pathologist with HPCSA (Practising / Active Registration) – non‑negotiable.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (MMed / FCPath).
  • Experience in a recognised laboratory environment (Lancet, PathCare, NHLS, or similar).
  • Comfortable working remotely with digital pathology / reporting systems.
  • Strong diagnostic accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
