Our client, a well-established company in the agri-processing / packaging sector is seeking a Packaging Technician to oversee mechanical and electrical maintenance within a production and packaging environment.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring optimal machinery performance, minimal downtime, and effective people management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on production and packaging machinery.
  • Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal operational efficiency.
  • Reduce material waste through continuous optimisation of machinery performance.
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Manage and minimise downtime across production and packaging operations.
  • Supervise, support, and guide departmental staff, ensuring effective team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safe work procedures, and food safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment at all times.

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Relevant post-school qualification or equivalent practical experience (advantageous).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with proven hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving ability.
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in an industrial, processing, or packaging environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a young management structure and lead a large operational team.
