Support the Operational function through continuous and disciplined execution of daily tactical deliverables in line with defined processes & procedures, to achieve optimal service delivery.
Job Function

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS, KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS AND STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES.
- Continuously drive Operational KPIs, metrics and targets to maintain and improve operational efficiencies and service delivery.
- Implement, manage and maintain any new processes / procedures as directed by the COO and /or Operations Manager.
- Participate in and contribute toward the development, adjustment and execution of operational plans, schedules and standard operating procedures / processes.

SUPERVISOR / HUMAN RESOURCES / INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS.
- Track, manage and support your direct report line incumbents to achieve their daily operational deliverables, including but not limited to: Daily activities and corresponding deliverables by maintaining effective people management practice, ensuring that roles and competencies are effectively and efficiently carried out line with their respective Position Agreement/s.
- Employee overtime on local distribution vehicles.
- Manage any / all leave, in line with the Company's comprehensive Leave Policy.
- Alongside the Operations Manager, measure and evaluate direct report line incumbents through bi‑annual performance reviews.
- Identify / propose / schedule training (internal and external) to close the skills gap to improve Operations performance and efficiencies, with minimum disruption to the daily Operations function.
- Assist the Operations Manager with any Industrial Relations processes pertaining to your direct report line employees, as and when required.
- Ensure timeous communications with the Payroll Division pertaining to overtime, AODs, suspensions et al., as and when required.

OPERATIONAL AND ROUTING ACTIVITIES:
- Monthly management / maintenance of Driver PDPs.
- Manage 'early morning' collections through pre‑defined SOPs.
- Oversight of 'collections' execution against set service level agreements and defined policies/procedures.
- Through increased oversight, ensure no misrouting occurs i.e. all freight to be sent to correct destination.
- Timeous lodging of any / all 3rd party freight.
- Oversee and manage the processing of all local vehicle collection freight in line with pre‑defined SOPs.
- Ensure all freight is fully scanned onto the Depot floor (including 3rd party and linehaul freight) and processed in accordance with defined SOP.
- Investigate and analyse Morning Shift inefficiencies with a view to recommending / contributing solutions to correct as such.

COMPANY FLEET:
- Actively provide and demonstrate Fleet Management leadership in line with defined policies / procedures and health & safety standards / regulations.
- Monitor and maintain the wellbeing of all company vehicles to the set standard.
- Uphold and enforce the Company policies pertaining to PPE and Unforms.

LINEHAUL:
- Successful management and oversight of Linehaul activity, ensuring adherence to / execution of defined SOPs pertaining to: Unloading inbound Linehaul.
- Loading outbound Linehaul.
- Scanning of all freight.
- Balancing and reconciling all manifests and tripsheets.
- Execute duties within pre‑defined cut‑off deadlines for departures and 3rd party lodging.
- Placement of tracking units on Linehaul.
- Careful handling of freight during loading / offloading and sorting processes to prevent / avoid damages / incidents.

DEPOT FLOOR:
- Oversight of morning Depot activity, maintaining execution against set service level agreements and defined policies/procedures.
- Ensure the Warehouse is kept clean and tidy.

HEALTH & SAFETY:
- Maintain and enforce Health and Safety standards, procedures and compliance for an incident / accident free Operations environment.
- Immediately report any Health and Safety challenges to the Operations Manager for corrective action.
- Immediately report any Injury on Duty to the Operations Manager and further assist with completion of any Worker's Compensation documents in line with statutory requirements.

INCIDENTS / ACCIDENTS:
- Report all Fleet and Depot incidents / accidents to the Operations Manager.
- Investigate, as assigned to you, any / all incidents and accidents.
- Through the process of investigation, methodically identify root causes of operational challenges / incidents / accidents and report to the Operations Manager.
- Further assist in implementing corrective action and contribute ideas to minimise / eliminate repeat incidents / accidents.

DUTY OF CARE:
- Protect and maintain the wellbeing of company assets and resources.
- Protect and maintain the wellbeing of all freight.
- Execute preventative measures to limit / avoid incidents and damages through the following practices: Instilling and / or elevating awareness. Continuous guidance and training. Provide appropriate tools and equipment. Investigate and analyse unplanned / unforeseen events to identify root cause. In line with defined SOPs, record, report and communicate any incidents / damages to the Operations Manager.

COMMUNICATIONS:
- Continuously monitor and update Hatch Groups. Implement necessary action where required.
- Ensure all Pre‑Alerts / ICU's are executed accordingly.
- Attend / Arrange and participate in regular meetings with key internal stakeholders, as and when required, to align defined strategic goals with operational capabilities.
- Participate in collaborative cross‑functional team activities to share best practice, drive technical excellence and enhance sustainable customer service levels.

OTHER:
- Execute any / all Ad Hoc Projects and / or tasks as directed by the COO, Operations Manager or CEO.
- Participate in any / all training as directed by the Company, and further demonstrate skills obtained as such.
- Drive all workflow through ASANA.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Tertiary Qualification in Supply Chain Management – minimum Diploma.
- Minimum 5 years demonstrable experience in an Operations Supervisory position.
- Minimum 5 years practical experience in the Freight / Logistics Industry.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Proactive, critical thinker.
- Detail orientated.
- Structured, methodical and disciplined.
- Adaptable and open‑minded.
- Decisive, resolute and resilient.
- Proficient use of MS office, Freight Management Software, and ASANA.
- Valid SA driver's license and own vehicle.
