Operations Manager (Business and Systems Analyst Functions)

The Operations Manager (Business and Systems Analyst Functions) role combines strategic leadership and operational oversight with deep Capital Markets accounting and systems expertise. The successful candidate will manage people, delivery, cost, and performance within the Calypso business unit, while serving as the functional and accounting subject matter expert responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust accounting solutions within Calypso.

This position bridges business operations, system functionality, and accounting principles, ensuring that both team performance and solution quality meet the highest professional standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Calypso business unit, ensuring efficiency, cost control, and delivery excellence.
  • Align team objectives with the organization’s strategic pillars and performance goals.
  • Manage resource allocation, employee engagement, recognition, and development.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
People Management
  • Set clear performance goals and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and mentorship.
  • Enhance team performance and professional development through structured learning and career guidance.
  • Uphold organizational culture, values, and ethics through exemplary leadership.
Business and Systems Analysis
  • Lead the elicitation of complex client accounting and business requirements.
  • Translate accounting workflows and financial processes into precise, functional system specifications.
  • Design and architect functional accounting solutions within Calypso or equivalent Capital Markets platforms.
  • Oversee system configuration and support potential system development to deliver functional accuracy and quality.
Quality Assurance and Delivery
  • Define, validate, and document comprehensive testing strategies for accounting modules (unit, integration, regression, and UAT).
  • Ensure rigorous verification of system solutions prior to deployment.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation across all phases of analysis, design, and testing.
  • Provide expert post-implementation support and maintenance for accounting solutions.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with internal and client-side finance, accounting, and operations teams.
  • Communicate complex information clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between delivery teams, clients, and management stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc. or B.Com.) in Financial Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Financial Accounting, Business Studies, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g., Honours, MBA, or equivalent) is advantageous.
Experience
  • 8–10 years of continuous Capital Markets experience.
  • Deep understanding of Capital Markets across asset classes and business areas.
  • Strong functional and/or technical expertise in Capital Markets systems.
  • Proven people management and leadership experience.
  • Track record of leading multiple system implementation projects.
  • Solid grounding in Accounting and Treasury concepts within financial environments.
  • Demonstrated senior-level experience in business analysis, system configuration, and functional design.
  • Experience with Calypso is highly advantageous (but not mandatory).
