The Opportunity: Operations Manager (Durban)
The Operations Manager is responsible for the end-to-end SC functionality of Distribution Centres in the Region. Functions will include People Management, Finance Management, Process Management, Customer Satisfaction and SHEQ Management.
What you'll need?
- Gr 12
- NQF5/ Diploma or related tertiary qualification preferred
- TES industry experience would be an advantage
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience preferably in a service-related industry. Warehouse management experience is essential
- Exposure to unionized environments would be an advantage
- CCMA Conciliation and Arbitration experience desirable
Lead People Management
- Drive staffing levels, performance, training, succession planning and HR compliance across all shifts.
Ensure Operational Process Excellence
- Oversee process compliance with Warehouse Management Standards and manage daily/weekly performance reporting.
Deliver Client Satisfaction
- Build strong client relationships, understand client strategy, and lead the team to deliver on OTIF and service targets.
Manage Financial Performance
- Control labour and operational costs, forecast expenditure, audit invoices, and minimise damages and claims.
Drive Safety & Risk Compliance
- Implement and monitor SHEQ programs, support audits, manage incident reporting, and ensure staff training and compliance.
Coordinate Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Inventory, Transport, Planning and Replenishment teams to ensure seamless distribution centre flow.
Measure & Improve Performance
- Track KPIs (shift fill rates, productivity, throughput), provide feedback, and implement continuous improvement plans.
Protect and Manage Assets
- Safeguard client assets, material handling equipment and ensure compliance with safety and PPE standards.
