Job Overview

To support our exciting growth trajectory we are seeking an experienced creative and results-driven Marketing Manager to join our team as our local marketing lead for South Africa.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving our marketing efforts, establishing our brand presence, and supporting our expanding ambitions in the South African market and wider IMEA region.

Candidates with professional services expertise, ideally in management consulting, who can leverage industry knowledge to effectively enhance our positioning in the South African market, are essential.

Approximately 70% of this role will focus on South Africa and Africa, positioning you as the first advisor on locally relevant activations and our home point of contact for Marketing in our Johannesburg office.

The remaining 30% will involve supporting peers across India, the Middle East and Africa, contributing to IMEA-wide campaigns and activations as part of a unified regional Marketing team and giving you visibility to regional and global stakeholders.

This position suits a highly organized entrepreneurial self‑starter keen to pioneer programmes in South Africa while actively collaborating with colleagues across IMEA to ensure we show up as one team.

As Oliver Wyman South Africa’s Lead for Marketing you will work closely with the IMEA Marketing Executive Director and our IMEA Marketing Head of Markets, the Partner group in South Africa and global Marketing peers.

You will lead the local markets marketing strategy and execute high‑impact marketing programs that raise brand awareness and help build relationships with clients and influencers through a variety of tactics.

At the same time you will contribute to regional initiatives and topics, drawing upon and offering your expertise and learnings to peers across IMEA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with IMEA Marketing Heads and South Africa’s business leadership to develop integrated growth strategies for existing and new sectors for the local market.
  • Lead South Africa‑focused (70%) marketing campaigns across multiple channels (website, social media, press releases, email newsletters, videos, events) to increase brand visibility and generate interest while supporting IMEA‑wide campaigns and activations (30%) to strengthen regional alignment.
  • Work with our IMEA campaigns coordinator to conduct detailed reporting and analysis of campaign impact in South Africa, measuring and analysing marketing effectiveness using CRM and other tools to optimise campaigns continuously.
  • Together with IMEA Head of PR, manage relationships with local PR agencies, expanding the firm’s presence in tier‑1 media and leveraging your own relationships to build connections with key editors and journalists.
  • Create South Africa‑specific content and adapt global marketing materials for local relevance, emphasizing culturally resonant storytelling and effective distribution.
  • Represent Oliver Wyman South Africa in global Marketing team forums, identifying synergies between global and local campaigns and ensuring South Africa’s perspective informs IMEA planning.
  • Collaborate with our think tank, the Oliver Wyman Forum and Marsh McLennan (MMC), to strategise content delivery for relevant report launches.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with organisations, associations and influencers as relevant.
  • Develop tailored account‑based marketing (ABM) strategies in collaboration with local Partner leadership.
  • Enhance employer brand through local activations, supporting Recruitment team efforts.
  • Maintain a keen interest in industry trends, competitive intelligence and regulatory changes, providing actionable insights that keep up with best practice.
  • Identify and negotiate speaking opportunities for firm leaders at influential conferences and events in South Africa.
  • Oversee local marketing operations and manage relationships with agencies and vendors to expand South Africa marketing support functions.
  • Foster strong relationships internally and externally to drive collaboration and business development both within South Africa and across the IMEA region.
  • Take on special projects on behalf of the team on occasion that contribute to the company’s goals and your own professional development.
Experience Required
  • 8 years of proven track record and experience in a B2B marketing / communication function within professional services or agency.
  • Expertise in crafting and editing engaging content across multiple formats (media, social media, web, reports, etc.) and familiarity with keyword research and SEO.
  • Client‑centric / Account‑Based Marketing experience with a strategic eye on linking Marketing impact with Commercial Objectives.
  • Existing media relationships in South Africa is an advantage or experience in managing a PR agency.
  • Team management experience and experience working in an international / regional peer group contributing to multi‑country campaigns.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana.
  • Team member management is an advantage but not essential at this stage.
