Job description

Our client, a leading multinational and multifaceted manufacturing company, seeks to employ a diverse, high energy and professional manager, as part of their succession plan, to take over managing the maintenance and operations of a fleet of transport vehicles, as well as construction/road surfacing equipment and workshops across South Africa, Namibia and Zambia.

Please note that this is a highly specialised role and will suit a candidate who has managed several workshops, operations and maintenance of diesel powered fleet and equipment. In addition, we do require a candidate who is able to travel extensively in SA, as well as into Africa and who has exceptional leadership experience.

Key Requirements:
  1. Completed Mechanical Engineering or related qualification, with a minimum of 10 years experience managing group assets such as site construction equipment, transportation vehicles, and company workshops.
  2. Strong background in managing diverse teams across multiple workshops, ensuring compliance with Hazchem, environmental, and road transport legislation, along with asset licensing, insurance/claims management, workshop documentation, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of equipment and vehicles.
  3. Proven track record in people management and development, providing technical support, and maintaining staffing and performance records.
  4. Experience in supplier management, scheduling servicing, and ensuring profitability and effective asset utilization.
  5. Sound experience in HSE, Quality standards (ISO 9001 and 14001), budget management, and international reporting to corporate head office.
  6. Valid driver’s license, own vehicle, and a clear criminal and credit record.
