Job description
SUMMARY

To ensure that all company's equipment is maintained to minimum downtime.

Ensure plant / equipment availability is in accordance to set standards.

To maintain mechanical equipment in good order by adhering to maintenance procedures and enable operations to meet production targets.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Education: Grade 12 & N3-N6 or Technical Qualifications
  • Additional Qualifications: LMI or LTI Competency or Millwright Trade Test
  • Minimum Work Experience: 2-5 years' experience as Artisan, experience in a construction environment will be an advantage. Familiarity with construction terminology and processes.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Equipment Inspections: Conducting equipment inspection, fault finding and diagnostics. Deliver technical solutions for diagnosed problems. Performance of preventive maintenance and repairs. Report all faults and findings. Inspect equipment for defects or required repairs.
  • Equipment Repairs & Maintenance: Determine work procedures, construct foundations, handle the assembly, dismantling, and overhaul machinery using hand and power tools. Operate grinders, milling machines, welding machines and drills to fabricate custom parts or conduct repairs. Moving, assembling, and installing critical machinery components like shafting, precision bearings, gearboxes. General laborer duties, pipefitting, mechanical and electrical work. Regular maintenance, involving tasks like lubrication, bearing replacement, and seal replacement. Understanding of fluid mechanics is crucial for maintaining and troubleshooting valves, cylinders, pumps, and compressors. Planned maintenance executed and improved operational efficiency at all machines assigned to the position. Preventative maintenance.
  • Equipment Control: Handling unassembled equipment with precision and utilizing hoisting and rigging equipment to meticulously position components for assembly. Minimises breakdowns and optimizes equipment by conducting preventive maintenance. Ensure resources, tools and equipment are available for site. Ensure job cards are completed. Investigates root cause and identifies problem area on equipment. Testing; checking and certification of the equipment to ISO standards in conjunction with LMI at Head Office and all sites. Assist in management and maintenance of the tools and equipment in stock. Assist in the disposal process of tools and equipment.
