Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in KwaZulu-Natal is looking for an experienced Millwright to ensure that the plant operates at maximum efficiency. Key responsibilities include inspecting machinery, performing repairs, and executing maintenance tasks. Ideal candidates will have a Matric qualification, be a qualified Millwright, and possess 3 to 5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment. A strong working knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical systems is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant experience in an Automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical systems, electrical fault finding and Pneumatics.
  • PLC and Robotics experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and examine machinery to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Install, align, commission, and repair mechanical equipment.
  • Operate machine tools to fabricate required parts.
  • Adjust and repair machinery and replace defective parts.
  • Perform planned and preventative maintenance.
  • Resolve machine breakdowns with minimal downtime.

Overview

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Millwright to join the Maintenance Department.

Purpose of the job :

The millwright will play a crucial role in ensuring that the plant operates at maximum efficiency with minimal downtime.

The responsibilities will include reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures, transporting equipment for installation and assembling machinery and equipment.

The millwright will also be responsible for conducting tests and inspections to ensure machinery and / or equipment operates safely and efficiently as well as the execution of maintenance tasks and trouble shoot issues to minimise downtime and extend the life cycle of the equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Inspecting and examining equipment and / or machinery to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Installing, aligning, commissioning , repairing , diagnosing , inspecting and dismantling and moving stationary machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Operating machine tools to fabricate parts required during the overhaul, maintenance and set up of machinery and / or equipment
  • Adjusting machinery and / or equipment and / or repairing or replacing of defective parts
  • Aligning and testing equipment and / or machinery to ensure optimal performance
  • Performs planned and preventative maintenance
  • Machine and / or equipment cleaning and lubricating.
  • Resolve machine breakdowns, identification of faults, repair or replace defective parts with minimal downtime
  • Continuous improvement to improve machine and / or equipment performance
  • Ensures risk assessments are available , read and understood for each activity undertaken
  • Ensure Health, safety and environmental standards are adhered to
  • Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for safe and efficient operation.
  • Testing of units to evaluate operational operation.
  • Report writing and overall feedback on plant equipment.
  • Day by day tracking of machine problems
  • Weekly tracking of plant facilities. (Air, water and electricity)
Experiential and Educational requirements
  • Matric, Qualified Millwright
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant in experience, preferably in Automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical systems, electrical fault finding and Pneumatics
  • PLC and Robotics experience is preferred
